I lived in the Tampa bay area for 25 years and enjoyed my time there until retirement came along and expenses were too high for me. Left in 2014 for the Mtns of GA, a good trade off for me, but "Winter"in Fl is delightful, and compared to a Socilist State, you will enjoy your new freedoms.
Aww. Thank you! I can see why you opted for the mountains of Georgia. I’ve driven through there a few times over the past few years and it’s pretty great. Enjoy!!
PS- I think I recognize your name from another favorite substack author 😉
Nice summation of your beginning journey. We're still here in the "rainy" place, but were blessed to visit you in the land of the free twice now. Looking forward to more of your posts and maybe someday be a fellow Floridian.
Ha, got it what a great story u have to tell. This is awesome. I still remember the day u guys left us 🥲. So blessed I have the ability to come and visit your happy place and now mine too🥰.
I love this! Kudos to you for picking up sticks and moving somewhere where you did not know a soul. We left everything and everyone behind, too, but we had a connection here on the Panhandle, a.k.a. "LA" as in Lower Alabama.
I just finished reading it and I "love" it! I find myself smiling at some of the details as your accounts are bringing back memories as they unfolded. I also find myself smiling at the "land of alligators", as well as "C" being a swear word to you...because I KNOW YOU, lol!!! Great job painting the picture and setting the stage!
